Frosted Lemonade Smoothie - FP

Last year when Chick Fil A came out with their Frosted Lemonade I got addicted quick! I’d probably get 2-3 a week! I was spending wayyyy too much money on this lemony treat but worse than that, I was filling my body with sugar. I’m the first to admit that I’m addicted to sugar. Even now, 7 months after cutting sugar (99% of the time) I still crave it and want it. Nothing is ever too sweet or too much.
Thank the Lord in heaven for creating the stevia leaf! If you haven’t had stevia or maybe you had a brand that didn’t refine it well, you may have a “bad taste in your mouth!" 😃 One of the reasons that I can do the meal plan Trim Healthy Mama is because I get to have sweets! Not sugary sweets but the “oh, so delicious" stevia sweetened sweets! Stevia is a natural sweetener that is really good for you! The Pyure Organic Stevia found at Walmart is my favorite!
Now back to the frosted lemonade! I ran across a THM recipe on Pinterest and then made some of my own twists. It is SOOOOOOOOOO good! And it’s actually good for me too. Happy Dance time! Now I can drink my Frosted Lemonade and have it too!
I know you’re dying to try it, so here you go! Enjoy!
Frosted Lemonade Smoothie
  • 2 fresh lemons squeezed or 1/2 cup lemon juice
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
  • 1 scoop collagen (optional)
  • 1 tsp protein powder
  • 1 Tbs Pyure Organic Stevia (I like things sweet! You can adjust to your taste.)
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 3 drops lemon essential oil
  • 1/4 tsp gluccie or anthem gum (optional)
  • 10 ice cubes
Place all the ingredients in a blender and blend it up! You could add some frozen strawberries too! Mmmmm! I like to add Fat Free Ready Whip (Yes, it’s on plan) and a little lemon zest on top. It makes it prettier and so tasty!

3 Steps to Crushing Goals

There's no greater feeling in the world than crushing a goal! Not just reaching the finish line, but finishing strong! I have a BIG goal of running a quarter marathon in October. The thing is, I just can't wake up on that Sunday morning and run 6.2 miles. I have to train. I have to have small goals along the way. Right now I'm working on running a 5K at a certain speed. Everytime I get on the treadmill I push the pace up just a little. And today I crushed it! And I sprinted for a few minutes too! I was pumped.
But you know what happened to me right before I finished mile 2? My mind started trying to play tricks on me. It was saying, "You don't need to finish the 5K today. Don't you feel your legs they're starting to hurt. You can do it tomorrow. It's not a big deal." And that's where I have lost the battle time and time again. In my own head. But not today! I checked my breathing, it was fine. My legs were fine. Yeah, they hurt a little but not enough to quit. Then I started thinking about my goal of running the 5K at the faster speed. And then my big goal in October. And right there, in the middle of Planet Fitness I told my mind what was gonna happen. I was finishing and I was finishing strong!
So what is the goal that you want to crush? Here is my 3 Step Plan to Crush a Goal
  • 1. Make a plan
It’s great to have that big goal. But have you mapped out how you’re going to get to the finish line? I have found that the small goals along the journey are the only way I can conquer the big one! One of my biggest goals is to get down to my goal weight. Running this quarter marathon is actually just a smaller goal to be down to a healthy weight that I honestly can’t even remember ever being. I get excited just thinking about that day. And that’s what pushes me.
Have you ever made a goal poster? It’s one of my favorite things to do! It combines my dreams with arts and crafts! What could be better? I have 2 goal posters for the year hanging in my bedroom. I look at them every day. One for my weight loss journey and the other for my Mary Kay Business. On them I put the daily, weekly and monthly goals that I want to achieve to reach the dreams that God has placed in my heart. I have a plan. I know we’ve all heard this, but when we fail to plan, we plan to fail. Don’t let a lack of planning keep you from crushing your goals.
  • 2. Capture Your Thoughts
So you have a plan! Yes! You’re trucking along and all of a sudden your own fear starts creeping up and before you know it you are starting to talk yourself out of doing the daily steps you lined up in your plan.
What is it about fear? Why do we let it take hold? I can look back and see so many times where I let fear win. But you know what? Fear is a big fat LIAR. You can do all things through Christ who gives you strength. You are more than a conqueror through Jesus Christ. The bible talks about taking every thought captive! Here is what it says in 1 Corinthians 10:5-6 in The Message
“...We use our powerful God-tools for smashing warped philosophies, tearing down barriers erected against the truth of God, fitting every loose thought and emotion and impulse into the structure of life shaped by Christ. Our tools are ready at hand for clearing the ground of every obstruction and building lives of obedience into maturity."
I’m tired of letting fear and the enemy win in my life. Aren’t you? You have the authority to speak to your fears and tell them to SHUT UP! God has incredible things in store for your life. Stop letting the enemy use your own fears against you to stop you from the God dreams in your life. And if you have to take your thoughts captive every day, do it. God has given you the strength but you have to do the work. And sometimes the hardest work we do is in our minds. But you can and will win! You will crush that goal!
  • 3. Get Back Up
Alright, we have a plan, we’re capturing our thoughts and BOOM! Life happens. You get injured. There is a death in the family. There is an unexpected expense. Someone close hurts you. Or any of the other millions of things that can happen in this thing we call life. Or maybe we’re just not hitting those daily or weekly goals we set in the beginning and we feel like a failure. I heard this quote from a John Maxwell lesson years ago and it has stuck with me. “Failure is NOT fatal." Let those words sink in. Failure happens. But the only thing that will stop you from crushing your dream is quitting. So get back up!
Sometimes you have to adjust the plan. I had a goal of losing 10lbs every month and guess what? My weight loss stalled out. I hit that dreaded plateau. I wanted to be down 40lbs from January to the end of April. As of right now I’ve lost 21lbs this year. I’ve got 1 more week to go, so maybe I’ll hit 23! But you know what? I’ve lost 21lbs this year with 9 weeks of stalling!!! That’s amazing! I have to adjust my overall goal for the year. But that’s okay. I didn’t quit. I’m not going to let failure be fatal to my goal. I’m going to crush it. And you can crush your goals too if you will get back up. And determine the next time you fail that you’re gonna get back up again and again and again.
My goal with my blog is to give you hope and inspiration. God has placed destiny in you. You can and will do what He’s placed in your heart to do! Keep Shining!

When in doubt, make an omelette!

Ever looked in the fridge and there's NOTHING to eat? I mean there's food on the shelves, but you're hungry now! This happens to me every Wednesday night.
We all have that day every week where our normal daily schedule goes right out the window. For me it happens on Wednesday! I'm on staff at a church and Wednesday's we have our big mid week services. One of my responsibilities is in the production area. Most of the time it's easier to stay all day than try to go home and come back so by the time I get home it's usually around 9:30p, and I am ready for dinner. I've eaten every 3-4 hours but usually it's just been 2 small snacks after lunch. And I'm typically not wanting to spend much time cooking. I'm ready to eat! And for some reason I'm always out of leftovers. And that's when I reach for my frying pan and carton of eggs and whip up an omelette! It takes just a few minutes and you have a wonderful S meal hot and ready! Throw on some turkey sausage in another pan and you've got a full meal! So here's my recipe:
Rah’s Easy S Omelette
  • Coconut Oil Spray
  • 2-3 eggs beaten
  • 2 Tbs heavy whipping cream
  • Mineral salt
  • Pepper
  • Shredded cheddar cheese
  • Fresh spinach
Frying pan on med/low heat. Coat pan with Coconut Oil Spray. Combine beaten eggs and whipping cream. Pour egg mixture in pan. Season with salt & pepper. Let cook for a few minutes until your omelette is almost cooked through. Sprinkle cheese and spinach leaves on one half. Fold the other half on top. Leave on heat until cheese melts and spinach wilts slightly. Be careful not to burn or over cook the egg portion. And your done!
I love to add some turkey sausage and fresh strawberries on the side. And top it off with my favorite mug filled with hot Oolong Tea!
Quick, easy, and satisfying! It's my go-to meal. Good for breakfast, lunch or dinner! And if you have a little more time add some more veggies in there! I have to sneak mine in whenever possible.
I hope this helps you add one more easy recipe to your arsenal. It's always easiest for me to go off plan when I'm tired and hungry. I’d rather pour a bowl of sugary cereal than cook an elaborate meal. Grocery store planning is crucial! That's why I try and be sure I always have the ingredients to this meal! If you notice, 5 of the ingredients in this meal are in my top 15! See my blog http://saraheveritt.postach.io/post/rahs-top-15-pantry-items
The key to staying Shrinking and Shining is to set yourself up for success! You got this!

KISS - Keep It Simple Sweetie!

Okay, so you’re excited to start Trim Healthy Mama!
You’re ready!
You’ve bought the book!
You started reading!
And BAM! You’re confused. You’re mind tells you, “This is too hard. I can’t get this. Why are there so many letters? E, S, FP, XO, OMG!!! Is this Algebra?!?"
And that’s where it ends. You’ve quit before you’ve begun. Please, before you do that listen to these four words, Keep It Simple Sweetie! Yes, you’re gonna have to learn a whole new way of thinking about food. But you will get it! Every meal, every good choice, even every mistake is leading you to a whole new life of health and wellness. You will change the destiny of you and your family's lives. You will leave a lasting legacy as long as you DON’T GIVE UP!
When I started this journey I decided I would keep it simple. I worked on making a few breakfast choices and then I moved on to snacks and then to lunches and finally after a couple of weeks I was completely on plan 100%. I had already cut sugar before I started THM and maybe that’s where you need to start too. Cut sugar and drink your GGMS to help detox your system. To find out more about GGMS, please read my blog http://saraheveritt.postach.io/post/moonshine-i-thought-you-were-on-a-diet.
My first meals were so super simple. I read you could have Eggs, Turkey Sausage and Raspberries for a great S meal. I think that was my first THM meal! My snacks consisted of Triple Zero Greek Yogurt and an Apple for an E. Lunch was a quick stop at Chick Fil A for Grilled Nuggets and a SuperSide Salad (Full of that delicious kale I love!). I hadn’t bought the THM Cookbook yet so I would get on Pinterest and search simple THM recipes and there were so many yummy ideas and recipes. If I didn’t have a special recipe I would either leave it out or find something that would work instead. I’m telling you all this to let you know you don’t have to be an gourmet THM chef right out of the gate. It will take time.
One of the best things you can do is find someone to ask your questions to. Facebook is full of a lot of THM groups. From THM Beginners to THM ~ Saving Money, and so many more! They are full of kind and helpful women who are in this THM journey with you. They helped me so much. If you have a friend who’s a little bit ahead of you on this journey, they can be an incredible resource too.
I got so excited when I got a text from a woman that I have been THM coaching the last few months! She’s doing so great and I am beyond excited for her. She told me that she was starting to help someone else on their brand new Trim Healthy Mama journey! Do you know how happy that made me?!? Oh! I can’t tell you what joy it brought me! I’ve learned so much more helping people than I would have ever learned for just me. And now my friend is doing the same. And you can to! As we shine we allow others to shine too!
Don’t let the book overwhelm you. Just KISS - Keep It Simple Sweetie! You’ll get this. You’ll shed those unwanted pounds and best of all, YOU will inspire someone else to do the same.
Keep Shrinking Sisters! Keep Shining! Love you all!

Grace on Top of Grace

One of my favorite songs we sing at church is a song by Fellowship Creative called Grace on Top of Grace! It’s fun and makes me want to get up and boogie, Jesus boogie that is. And when I think of my new lifestyle and new way of eating, I constantly have to remind myself to give grace. Not to someone else, but to me. And I start singing! “Grace on Top of Grace."
When I first started the Trim Healthy Mama plan, I can’t tell you how many times I messed up. How confusing E’s and S’s were! I ate the wrong foods together over and over again. Yes, it can be frustrating. But I determined one thing, “I am not quitting. I’m going to get this." And every time I would make a mistake, I would learn what to do better the next time. And finally, it clicked. And it will click for you too! You just can’t give up. You can’t beat yourself up. You have to give yourself grace.
One of the coolest things you learn with the THM plan is you don’t have to start over tomorrow when you mess up. You can start over in 3 hours. That’s when your body can start using a new fuel. You don’t have to start again tomorrow or that inevitable Monday that never comes. You can start again in 3 hours. Even if you totally blow it and eat that cupcake that’s been screaming at you from the moment you walked into that birthday party. You don’t have to punish yourself with eating nothing for the rest of the day. Just start again. Part of the process is failing. Success happens when you stop allowing your failures to keep you from starting again.
So what, you mixed your fats and carbs and created a Crossover (XO) Meal. It’s way better than eating a snickers bar and a Dr Pepper or all the other bad choices you used to make. Your taking baby steps that will eventually push you to your goal. One mistake at a time you're learning.
And isn’t that how God sees us? Sure, we make mistakes. We mess stuff up. But He loves us despite of all of that. He wants the very best for us and gives us grace on top of grace. And he wants you to give yourself grace too.
So keep going. You’re gonna make mistakes. And when you do, get up, brush yourself off, give yourself grace and keep going. You are so much stronger than you give yourself credit for. Don’t give up! I believe in you!

And here’s Grace on Top of Grace! Just in case you wanna listen!

The Sisterhood of the Shrinking Pants

I love being a girl! Growing up I was part tomboy so you would probably NOT have heard me use those words. I hated skirts and dresses, cheerleading was stupid and even the thought of wearing pink made you weak.
Now to all the cheerleaders out there, I have come to see the light and have changed my tune, or should I say cheer? I love PINK, I wear dresses all the time (because I love them) and I'll cheer at the top of my lungs with the cheer squad and do the moves!
Being a girl is awesome! I LOVE makeup, slumber parties, Disney Princesses and giggles, lots of giggles! But one of the best parts of being a girl is the amazing sisterhood that happens when women come together. Every time I attend a Mary Kay meeting, connect with my small group girls at my church's youth group, or go to a ladies class or event, it's almost automatic. I am surrounded by this love bubble of sisterhood.
I don't know why I was so shocked when the same thing happened as I started my weight loss journey. The amount of support and love that came from my sisters was and is overwhelming at times. I knew that my besties and family would be excited for me, but I wasn't prepared for everyone else.
A new sisterhood is forming in my life, I'd like to call it, "The Sisterhood of the Shrinking Pants" and I'd love to invite you in. Maybe you feel like you'd love to lose weight and live a healthier life, but you just don't have the support. Or maybe you've tried over and over again and have failed and now you're right back where you started and the thought of trying again scares you. Maybe you are very good at making every excuse why you can't eat healthy or exercise. Or maybe you feel like you're in the movie Mean Girls and everyone is saying to you "You Can't Sit With Us!" And you feel all alone. I've been there. I lived there for a long, long time. But there is hope.
God has created you to be so much stronger than what you give yourself credit for. You have the ability to change your life. God will give you the strength, but you have to do the work.
Will you let me go on this journey with you? Will you join The Sisterhood of the Shrinking Pants? Together we will support, love, and encourage each other into a new level of health and fitness?
Whether you need to lose 300lbs or you just want a more active life and tone up, this sisterhood is for you!
In the coming days, weeks and months I will be sharing my journey. I am almost halfway to my goal weight and I want to tell you about my meals, tips & tricks, exercise, my fav things and so much more. But what I want to share with you the most is HOPE. I want to cheer at the top of my lungs for you!
You are not alone. And you most certainly can sit with this sisterhood.
If I can do this, you can too. I am so excited! So let's go girls, doing this together.

Fried Pork Chop and Brussel Sprouts

Yes, that’s right, I said fried!
This was today’s lunch. And it was so tasty!
This is a S Meal in the Trim Healthy Mama Plan. For more about the THM plan please see my blog http://saraheveritt.postach.io/post/what-are-you-doing.
I fried this in Extra Virgin Coconut Oil and used the THM Baking Blend with some seasoning for the breading. You can find the Baking Blend on the Trim Healthy Mama online store http://store.trimhealthymama.com. It is a gluten-free, low glycemic baking mix that’s full of fiber! Many of THM recipes call for this little treasure. It’s one of the first specialty ingredients that I purchased. It’s wonderful. You can also make your own. There are recipes on Pinterest. I haven’t gone that route yet!
I mentioned in my previous post about my new found love of brussel sprouts. I found a steamable bag in the freezer section of Aldi for $1.
And 2 large pork chops at Aldi for $3
This made 2 filling meals for $4. Okay, $5.00 when you add the little bit of baking blend and coconut oil and other ingredients I used. But $2.50 for Sunday lunch compared with the at least $11 that I would have spent at a restaurant. It’s just crazy how much I used to spend every day on eating out. But that’s for another post.
Fried Pork Chop
  • 2 Fresh Pork Chops
  • 4 Tbs Coconut Oil
  • 1/3 Cup THM Baking Blend
  • 1 Pinch Cayenne Pepper (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp Mineral Salt
  • 2 tsp Garlic & Herb Seasoning (or seasoning of choice)
  • 1 Egg - Slightly beaten

Place Coconut Oil in Frying Pan at Med Heat. Mix Baking Mix, Cayenne Pepper, Salt and Seasoning and place in paper bag. Dip pork chops in the beaten egg. Place dipped pork chop in paper bag with baking blend mix and shake. Place pork chop on the pan. Cook each side for at least 3 min or until golden brown.
Brussel Sprouts
  • Steamable Brussel Sprouts
  • 1 Tbs Butter
  • Salt & Pepper

Follow Microwave Instructions on brussel sprouts bag. Add butter and salt and pepper and your ready!
Hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

Rah's Top 15 Must Have's

These 15 items are a must in my pantry and fridge. If I’m out of any of these, you can be sure that I’m headed to the store! All of these items can be found at your local grocery store. Trim Healthy Mama (the healthy eating plan that I’m on) has a lot of yummy recipes and some of them call for for specialty items. I’m here to tell you, I had zero specialty items when I started. And 6 months later I’m down 64 lbs and have added a lot of specialty items very very slowly. I’ll talk about my specialty items in another post.
And now my Top 15 Must Have’s.
  • 1. Dannon Oikos 000 Greek Yogurt - I eat at least one of these a day! It has zero fat, zero artificial sweeteners, and zero added sugar. It comes in 10 different flavors and the salted caramel is my absolute favorite! You can have a whole single serving with an E meal and a half with an S meal. Please see my blog http://saraheveritt.postach.io/post/what-are-you-doing for the explanations of the S and E meals! They are delicious! Did I mention they have 15 grams of protein too? I have these at home and at work.
  • 2. Turkey Deli Meat - I don’t always have time to cook meat. And to make sure I have the protein I need to stay on plan I ALWAYS have turkey deli meat on hand. My favorite is the Great Value Brand at Walmart. It’s thin sliced and delicious! I put it in salads, with Laughing cow cheese and Wasa Crackers and sometimes just by itself.
  • 3. Light Swiss Laughing Cow Cheese - Full of creamy, yummy deliciousness. One wedge has only 1.5 grams of fat. Perfect with my turkey deli meat or green bell peppers or on plan carb balance whole wheat tortilla’s. This is a home and office must as well!
  • 4. Almond Milk - I use Almond milk almost every day. Be sure you get the unsweetened kind! And I prefer the Unsweetened Vanilla. It’s perfect in smoothies! Lots of THM smoothies, hot drinks and sipper recipes call for it. I also use it to prepare my oatmeal instead of water. Makes it creamy!
  • 5. Apple Cider Vinegar - ACV is a crucial part of my weight loss. Be sure to get the kind with “The Mother." There are more health benefits with this kind. It’s right on the label so you can’t miss it. I haven’t been able to find ACV with the mother at Lawton’s Target, but you can find it at Walmart and Country Mart for sure! I make a Good Girl Moonshine with ACV. At least one a day! See my blog http://saraheveritt.postach.io/post/moonshine-i-thought-you-were-on-a-diet to find out all about GGMS!
  • 6. Eggs - All hail, the incredible edible egg; fried, scrambled, over easy, a tasty omelet, hard boiled. The possibilities are endless! They are super quick and easy to fix and are delicious. We go through a lot of eggs at my house. Full of protein and good fats. And when you’re having an E meal, not a problem, just use the whites!
  • 7. Berries - Strawberries, Raspberries, Blackberries and Blueberries! All are great friends of the THM Plan! They go with both E and S meals. Now be careful with Blueberries in an S meal, cut the portion to 1/2 cup!
  • 8. Protein Powder - Great for smoothies! The THM Brand is bomb! But it is not necessary. I had trouble with this one when I first started. Finding a Protein Powder that didn’t have artificial sweeteners in it proved to be tricky. The ones I found were either very expensive or the texture was off for me. Texture is a big deal for me. After all my trying I found my favorite. The THM Brand. It’s on their store and you can find it at other online stores! I’m not saying to throw out what you have. Use up what you have!
  • 9. Pyure Organic Stevia - Stevia is a natural sweetener. And unlike sugar, stevia does not spike your blood sugar. And it lets you have something sweet without the guilt of sugar. Sugar is so so bad. But that is for another post. The PYURE brand is by far the BEST Stevia I have found. You can find it at Walmart in the baking aisle next to the sugar and splenda. I am NOT a fan of Truvia. This brand doesn’t have that crazy bad after taste. I use PYURE in everything I want to sweeten; coffee, tea, oatmeal, muffins, cakes, smoothies, ice cream, everything! And yes, you can have on plan muffins, cakes, and ice cream. There’s so many recipes that call for stevia and it’s always in my pantry!
  • 10. Fresh/Frozen Veggies - I have found that veggies are key to my weight loss. I try to sneak them in whenever I can. I don’t particularly love veggies so I have to be intentional about eating them. Don’t be afraid to try something new! I never thought I liked brussel sprouts. I tried them the other day and guess what? I LOVE them! You’ll be surprised what you might like if you just give it a try. My favorites are broccoli, cauliflower, squash, zucchini and now brussel sprouts.
  • 11. Fresh Greens - Spinach, Kale, Romaine, Cabbage, etc.. I know that fresh greens are vegetables, but I felt like they needed their own category. Kale is a superfood. Sometimes Kale gets a bad wrap, but I love it. I use it in salads, smoothies, wraps, and kale chips are amazing! Just made my first batch of Kale chips last week. I loved them! And Kale is so cheap! You can get a fresh big bunch of it at Walmart for $1.18. I may have to write another blog just on Kale! I do make sure that I always have a plethora of greens in my fridge. Spinach and Cabbage are a couple of my other favorites. They are great to cook with! You’ll be seeing lots of meals in future posts that include all these yummy greens!
  • 12. Oats - A great option for an E meal and you have to try the Bust a Myth Banana Cake from the THM Cookbook. Oats are a big part of this recipe and so delicious. Oats fill me up like no other. Oats really help me on those days where I want to eat everything in sight! And have you tried overnight oats?!? Oh my! There’s another post!
  • 13. Turkey Sausage - The Jeanie O Breakfast Turkey Sausage is my favorite! So tasty and a great source of protein! I pair turkey sausage with scrambled eggs, spinach an on plan carb balance whole wheat tortilla and a sprinkle of cheddar cheese for my favorite S breakfast - breakfast burritos! Mmmm! My mouth is watering just thinking about it!
  • 14. Light Rye Wasa Crackers - Sometimes you just need something crunchy and these Wasa Crackers do the trick! They are the shape and size of a graham cracker and are in the cracker section. I’ve already mentioned one of my favorite snacks that include these crackers with Light Laughing Cow Cheese and Turkey Deli Meat! They are also great paired with a Light Progresso Soup!
  • 15. Coconut Oil - Oh man, I could go on for days about Coconut Oil! It has so many healthy benefits, including helping with weight loss! I use coconut oil everyday. In fact, I’ve read in several places that we should consume 2 TBS of coconut oil every day! I always go for the Extra Virgin Coconut Oil. Some people don’t like the taste of coconut and say they can taste it in Coconut Oil. You may have to try a couple until you find the right brand for you.
So there you go! My Top 15! I hope they help you on your journey like they have with mine!

What happens when I’m hungry?!?

Sometimes it just happens. You’re hungry all day. You eat a big on plan meal and an hour later it feels like you haven’t eaten for days. On other diets that I tried to follow I was just out of luck at this point. I could either: 1. STARVE (yes, I said it, starve) or 2. Be forced to cheat and feel guilty for the rest of the day.
I’d like to introduce you to THM’s Food Freedom! No starving or cheating and best of all, no guilt! Tonight I had a great S meal (That’s a “Satisfying" full of healthy and delicious fats meal). Rotisserie Chicken with the skin, Broccoli with butter, salt, pepper and nutritional yeast and some yummy strawberries. I felt good for about an hour and my stomach started growling. You know the kind, where you can actually hear your stomach screaming, “GEEZ woman, FEED ME!" Not a problem, I whipped up one of my favorite FP Smoothies. Did I mention it’s a "Cake Batter" Smoothie and it’s delicious, easy and filling! The recipe is on the bottom of this post.
Now I will say, you don’t want to do this between every 3-4 hour meal for weight loss. But when you just need a snack, a FP (Fuel Pull) is a great choice. FP’s are low in carbs and fats and are great source of energy to get you through. Another great choice is choosing something in the same lane as your previous less than 3 hours ago meal. Since I had an S meal an hour earlier, I could have chosen a handful of almonds or some string cheese or another S meal option. You can search Pinterest for a ton of recipes and ideas. Feel free to follow my THM board, https://www.pinterest.com/severitt/thm/ . I’m adding to it all the time!
So to answer the question I posed at the beginning, “What happens when I’m hungry?" My answer is simply, “Eat baby, eat!"

Cake Batter Smoothie - FP
  • 1 Cup Almond Milk
  • 1/4 Cup 1% Cottage Cheese
  • 1 Scoop Pristine Whey Protein
  • 1/2 tsp Almond Extract
  • 1/2 tsp Butter Extract
  • 7 Spinach Leaves (optional, but I’m always trying to sneak veggies in)
  • 10-12 Ice Cubes

What are you doing?!?

I get asked this question a lot. So I thought I’d share the very basics of Trim Healthy Mama.
*As a disclamer, I highly recommend you read the Trim Healthy Mama Plan book. It’s at most libraries and you can buy it online. I downloaded it right to my phone and I reference it all the time.

Here are the stripped down basics. (There is so much more in the book).
  • You eat every 3-4 hours.
  • You have protein with every meal/snack.
  • You pair your protein with either: 1. Fats (an Satisfying or S Meal) 2. Good Carbs (an Energizing or E meal).
  • Berries and non-starchy veggies can go with either
  • No No List includes: sugar, artificial sweeteners, white potatoes, white rice.

And that’s it! It’s learning how to separate your foods to keep your blood sugar from spiking. Spiking blood sugar is not just something that people who suffer from diabetes need worry about. This is all explained in the book. Have I mentioned you should read it? Not ready for the book just yet? Go ahead and go to their website. http://trimhealthymama.com I also recommend liking their Facebook page. It is full of amazing stories and yummy recipes that help keep me encouraged.
Already on the THM plan? Are you a part of any of the Facebook Groups? They are another great source of encouragement. I have asked so many questions and my THM sisters always answer. It is an amazing community that I’m proud to be a part of.
Trim Healthy Mama gave me the tools I needed to succeed at this journey of weight loss. I finally feel like I can have the body I’ve always wanted. It’s not about being skinny. It’s striving for health and fitness to do all the things that God created me to do. He’s helping me shrink and I’m shining for Him!
